Two rocket launches in Iraq A Defense Department official told the Military Times on Wednesday that service members and a coalition partner were killed by troops across the country.
About a dozen people were wounded in the tail of 18 rockets that struck Iraq’s Camp Taji base, the official said.
Britain’s Defense Ministry on Thursday confirmed the death of Reserve Lance Corporal Brady Gillan, 26, with Scotland and Northern Irish Yemeni.
Reserve Lance Corporal Brady Gillan, 26, of Scotland and the Northern Irish Yeomanry, was killed on March 11 during a rocket attack on Iraq’s Camp Taji.
Camp Taji, located north of Baghdad, has been used as a training ground for many years. There are 6,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, training and advising Iraqi forces and conducting counterterrorism operations.
Officials have not said what they believe is the rocket attack, but there may be a Hezbollah or another Iranian-backed Shiite militant group. Officials with the OIR confirmed that 107mm rockets were used as the preferred weapon for Iranian-backed militants operating in Iraq.
The rockets used are very popular among Iran’s representatives, ”Philip Smith, a research firm with Washington, tweeted on Wednesday.
Hezbollah was responsible for the December rocket attack on a military base in Kirkuk, a US military base. The killing of the contractor triggered US military strikes.
This led to protests at the US embassy in Baghdad. The US has killed General Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s most powerful military officer, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the leader of Iranian-backed militias in Iraq. Following the airstrike on January 3, Hezbollah is a member of the thug.
Since 2009, the State Department has designated Hezbollah as a “foreign terrorist organization”.
A truck with a Make-Shift rocket launch platform was found south of the area with three Katyusha rockets, according to the Iraq Defense Media Group.
This rocket attack is reminiscent of the December 27, 2019 attack on the Iraqi Kirkuk military establishment that caused the death of the American contractor.
The US has accused Iranian-backed Shia militants of being known as Khata-ib Hezbollah and has launched retaliatory airstrikes against the group.
The incident triggered a widespread confrontation with Iran following a head-on strike that killed Iranian goods commander Qassem Soleimani in early January.
In response to Solimani’s death, Iran launched a dozen ballistic missiles targeting two Iraqi bases on January 8.
No U.S. troops have been killed in the Iran ballistic missile attack, but more than 100 troops have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury.
Iran has been responsible for dozens of rocket attacks based on U.S. and coalition troops. The finger has left and warned Tehran to halt the attacks.
