Different Causes

Erectile dysfunction problems can have various reasons such as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, low testosterone levels, diabetes, obesity, alcohol, tobacco, and health conditions. It can happen from one or several conditions.

In order to diagnose erectile dysfunction, it’s normally just answering some questions with your doctor, and having a physical examination performed. You can also consult erectile dysfunction specialists through free online assessments, like the ones from and they will even prescribe your medication if needed.

Your doctor might have you complete a urine test, blood test, and psychological exam. The psychological examination is to see if you have depression or another psychological condition that’s causing it.

There are various treatment options such as medication for erectile problems. Your doctor will go over the benefits and risks of each treatment option.

Ensure that you ask the doctor any questions you might have during the process. If medication doesn’t work, you can speak with your doctor about other options such as penis pumps.

Some medications your doctor might prescribe are Avanafil, Sildenafil, Vardenafil, and Tadalafil. They enhance nitric oxide which is a chemical found in your body that relaxes muscles in your penis. Nitric oxide helps to increase blood flow which contributes to obtaining an erection.

You’ll need sexual stimulation in combination with these medications. As far as side effects and dosage, it’ll vary from person to person. Possible side effects are backaches, stomach upset, flushing, nasal congestion, visual changes, and headaches.

Speak with your doctor if you don’t notice any changes with the medication you’re taking. You might need a different medication or dosage.

If you decide to take an over-the-counter medication, speak with your doctor about current medications and supplements you’re taking. For those with low blood pressure, heart disease, or those on nitrate drugs, medications for erectile dysfunction might not be a good option.
